The police are investigating the mystery surrounding the death of a 25-year-old man, who was found hanging from the ceiling of a structure at Abossey Okai Central Furniture area, in Accra.
The deceased, identified as Ninkpe Bilyuun, was believed to have been murdered and later hanged on a rope to make it appear as if he committed suicide.
He was found with a nylon rope around the neck and legs was torching the ground.
The police have ruled out suicide and suspect foul play.
The tragedy brought a large crowd to the scene who wanted to catch a glimpse of the body.
Personnel from the Kaneshie District Police Command and the Crime Scene from the Headquarters were there to examine the body.
The Kaneshie District Police Commander, Superintendent Francis K. Somian, said his outfit received information about the tragedy and proceeded to the scene.
He said the police suspect foul play, stating that the rope around the neck of the deceased was short, and there was no foam from the deceased’s mouth and his legs were touching ground, which indicated that he might have been killed and later placed there to show that he committed suicide.
Supt Somian said investigations were ongoing to unravel the mystery.
He said items found on the deceased included a wallet, voter’s identity card, wrist watch and shoes.
The Commander said the body had been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation.
