As part of its drive to groom global citizens in Africa, the Ghana Campus of Webster University has held a Global leadership seminar; the first of its kind in Ghana.
The event which was on the theme: ‘Global Citizens and Leadership in the African context’ provided a platform for a vibrant and interactive discussion on how education can be used to create global citizens; and the value of such an education for the next generation of African leaders.
The programme which coincided with Webster University’s centennial celebration was in collaboration with the Young African Leaders Initiative Regional Leadership Center (YALI) and GIMPA.
Speaking that event, renowned motivational speaker, Rev. Dr. Charles Buckman urged the youth especially in Africa to be go-getters to change the continent.
He intimated that the missing link in Africa is leadership but was convinced the youth will make a difference.
“You are the people going to make Africa, so cease the moment, as you are the greatest generation of leadership Africa is providing,” he stated.
Dr. Charles Buckman challenged the youth of Africa to be daring, dreamers and determined in any little corner they find themselves to make a change that would help solve Africa’s problems as well as transform the continent.
“Dream a new dream; you don’t sit and wait; is a new Africa and Africa needs you,” he advised.
For her part, Director of the Ghana Campus Ms. Christa Sanders expressed their joy of being part of the dream of transforming the youth in Africa.
She noted that their hope is to see youth as agents of change who would transform themselves not only in Africa but globally.
Ms. Sanders said Webster University has a vision to develop global citizens who think and see things differently.
