Suspended High Court judge, Justice Ajet-Nassam is reported to have made himself available to the police before 'swerving' a judicial committee investigating bribery allegations against him.
Ajet-Nassam in the company of his lawyer made contact with the Police CID, at the Police HQ Accra about two weeks ago, Joy News’ Security Desk has learnt.
The Police maintained the judge is not on any wanted list and has not been charged with any offence. He is assisting the police with investigations, Joy News' Dzifa Bampoh reported.
His whereabouts became a matter of controversy after the Chief Justice Committee set up to investigate the bribery allegations against him demanded that the suspended judge turns himself in for questioning.
The Chief Justice Investigative Committee set up in August has been probing allegations of bribery against several high and circuit court judges who were caught on camera trading justice for money.
The High Court judges, 12 of them were expected to appear before the committee to challenge the claims of bribery against them but on two occasions Ajet Nassam had failed to appear before the five-member panel.
As a result of his failure to appear before the committee, hearing was adjourned to Tuesday 20 October 2015. He did not turn up on the adjourned date.
Although a fresh date, Thursday, 22 October 2015 was given for him to appear before the committee, Ajet-Nassam failed to honour that one too.
His whereabouts became a subject of controversy with critics accusing him of escaping from justice.
But Dzifa Bampoe who heads the Joy News Security Desk explained that most of the 33 High Court judges, magistrates and circuit court judges fled their location to avoid awkward moments with relatives and friends who tried to visit them and express sympathy after the scandal broke in August
She added however that Judge Nassam had already contacted the police and is assisting with investigations..
Meanwhile, a private legal practitioner Samson Lardy Anyenni told Joy News, the judge may have concluded that he has "absolutely no defence” for the bribery allegations, a reason why he did not appear before the committee.
Samson argued that irrespective of the absence of any implicated judge, the process will go on and the final decision will be deemed binding on the suspects.
On the whereabout of Justice Ajet Nassam, the undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas who filmed the judge collecting GH¢ 13,000 revealed on Joy FM Super Morning Show, Tuesday, that he has intelligence on the embattled judge's location. He however did not say where the judge could be 'hiding' except to add that the police are keeping their eyes on him.

Nassam was also captured on camera pocketing Ghc4000.00 to set some armed robbers free.
He allegedly took the money and a “big brown goat” to free four persons charged with stealing and conspiracy to steal close to GHC1million.
“It was when I was in Bimbilla and Yendi that people used to be generous but in Accra I haven’t seen anybody like you” Ajet expressed gratitude to the undercover journalist when he was taking the bribe.
