The Ghana Shippers Authority has acquired a 30-acre-stretch of land at Funko, a suburb of Takoradi, to build a logistics support platform for the oil and gas industry.
This was disclosed by the chief executive of the authority, Mr. Kofi Mbiah, when the board members toured the existing installations of the oil companies at the Takoradi Airforce Base, the naval base at Sekondi and the Takoradi Harbor.
Mr. Kofi Mbiah stated that the authority is ready to collaborate with the players in the oil and gas sector to provide any form of logistical support need to make the industry grow in the country.
The Ghana Shippers Authority represents the interest of the importers and exporters community in the country.
The authority says it is making frantic efforts to enable it adequately provide the logistical support for the oil and gas sector in order to deepen the implementation of the local content policy objectives.
So far, oil companies like Tullow, Kosmos and Eni have been using the Sekondi Naval base, the Takoradi Airforce base and the Port of Takoradi as their principal logical shore bases.
During a tour of these installations, the Chief Executive Officer of the authority, Mr. Kofi Mbiah, told Joy News the authority is poised towards providing a logical base to ease the pressure on the existing infrastructure.
Mr. Mbiah says besides logistical support the Authority is also be providing the oil and gas sector with technical advice and support to ensure the safe and cost effective supply of equipment to be used in the oil and gas sector.
