President John Mahama has threatened to sanction all headmasters and headmistresses charging illegal fees at Senor High Schools across the country.
District Directors of Education will not be left out of the President’s wrath if they are found culpable in the illegal dealings.
The President was speaking at Nkwanta in the Volta Region where he inaugurated a community day Senior High School.
Joy News’ Mawuli Yevu Agbi was at the inauguration and reported that the President made reference especially to a fee of È»10.00 being charged as Teacher Incentive in some schools.

“I received a complaint from a parent who has been asked to pay an incentive fee of È»10.00, it is an illegal fee. It is not approved by the Ministry of education so I have asked the Ministry to identify the headmasters and District Directors of Education who are charging those fees."
“Head teachers and District Directors of Education who are caught charging the illegal fees will be sanctioned”, he added.
According to the President, school authorities should put a stop to the act.
He tasked the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) to inspect the fees of all senior high schools and identify all school authorities who are going contrary to the approved fees.
Mr Mahama also apologised to parents whose wards are having challenges with the school placement.
He assured that measures are being put in place to ensure that all candidates are admitted in school.
