The Executive Chairman and co-Founder of Data Bank Financial Services Mr Ken-Ofori Atta, says while there is every need to wean businesses off governmental manipulations and influences, the corporate world cannot shy away from politics.
He said the corporate world should have an interest in and input into shaping up the future and destiny of the nation in which they operate.
He was addressing The African Banking & Financial Institutions Seminar currently underway at the La-Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
Speaking on the subject of the mutual fund industry in Africa and addressing a participant's specific question of the group's experience with the 2008 elections in Ghana in which some of Databank's executives were linked to New Patriotic Party's presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo, Ken Ofori Atta said he felt strongly that business people need not shy away from politics but play integral roles in deciding the path for the nation's future.
The seminar is hosted by the First Vault Group UK and focuses on The Way Forward after the global financial meltdown.
