Angry officials of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) on Thursday boycotted a meeting with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
The meeting of all stakeholders in the transport industry was to discuss the way forward for the implementation of the Bus Rapid System geared towards improving the debilitating road transport system in Accra.
Officials of GPRTU have kicked against the implementation of the policy, accusing the government of not consulting them.
They fear the policy will affect their business and livelihood.
At a meeting to discuss the way forward on Thursday, Joy News reporter, Moses Kanga said several drivers and union leaders staged a protest at the precincts of the AMA demanding to be allowed to take part in the meeting.
He said Police personnel were then invited to restore law and order.
Shortly after, executives of the GPRTU walked out of the meeting, leaving other stakeholders in the transport industry to continue.
