The Ghana National Gas Company has completed works to provide gas through the West African Gas Pipeline to Tema in a bid to help electricity generation in the country.
This comes as the thermal plants in Tema have been turned off due to lack of fuel and gas from Nigeria.
The plants would have provided more than 500 megawatts of power to end the load shedding.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gas Dr Sipa Yankey told Joy News they are awaiting the approval by WAPCO to reverse the flow of gas from Atuabo in the Western region to help solve the crisis.
"We have done everything to be done on our side," he said, but added WAPCO has some issues which they are resolving.
He named some of the issues as realigning the lines belonging to Ghana Gas and WAPCO.
"Work is ongoing," he said but was emphatic that much will depend on WAPCO.
He said there is a committee at the Ministry of Petroleum coordinating the work between Ghana Gas and WAPCO to ensure work is done as quickly as possible.
