Vice President Papa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has justified his confirmation as running mate to President John Mahama ahead of the 2016 elections.
Describing himself as the "main advisor" to president John Mahama, the laid back, soft spoken vice president thanked his boss for reposing confidence in him.
There have been calls and subtle attempts to have Amissah Arthur changed as Vice Presidential candidate for the 2016 elections.
A youth group from the Volta Region was demanding that the Speaker, Doe Adjaho be chosen over the current vice president.
Another group from the Central Region also pushed Foreign Minister Hanna Tetteh to be made named the running mate to President John Mahama.
To underline his absolute vote of confidence in the vice president, the president, John Mahama at a National Executive Committee, Monday, named Amissah-Arthur as the man to stand next to him in the 2016 elections.
That should effectively end the debate as to who will partner President John Mahama in 2016.
President John Mahama said after consultations with the party's council of elders as well the National Executive Committee of the party he had no problems at all re-nominating Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as running mate.
"He is able and willing to perform the job. He has got a good record. He's been deputy minister, he's been Governor of the Bank of Ghana, he's been my vice president and has acted as president when i am out of the country.
"I believe it has been a useful partnership and i believe in going into 2016 together we will achieve victory," he said.
The Vice President is counting on his honesty in dealing with the president as partly the reason why he has been retained.
"I am the main advisor to the president and I try to do an honest job of it and not to make public a lot of the things we say in private.
"I try to be as open as i can with him so that he knows where i stand,"
He assured the president and Ghanaians of his unflinching support and service towards the country's development.
