Soldiers in the Northern region have ejected squatters inside an Assembly Hall building of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to make way for its fencing.
At least, 50 squatters who are known NDC foot soldiers were driven out by some 30 armed soldiers after the Municipal Assembly served them evacuation notice yesterday, Northern Regional correspondent Hashmin Mohammed told Joy News Tuesday.
They were told to leave the area by 13 December 2015. But even before the deadline, the soldiers stormed the area which is sprawling with make-shift structures and destroyed some properties.
One of the affected residents told Joy News the “MCE has gone overboard.”
“It is [because of ] the party that [is why] he is the MCE. If the party is in opposition [ today] who is he?” he asked.
