Over 2000 workers of four stevedoring companies will know their fate as the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority break its silence on the refusal by the authority to renew the operating permits of the companies. The authority will hold a news conference on Wednesday to address concerns raised by staff of four stevedoring companies who claim they stand to lose their jobs because of the refusal of the Authority to renew their operating permits. The workers of the companies who operate from the Tema and Takoradi ports say about two thousand of them could be rendered jobless by the end of this month if the GPHA does not rescind its decision to withdraw the licenses of their employers. The four companies were given notice about the decision to withdraw their licenses at the end of December, but were allowed to continue operating only until the end of this month. The GPHA has refused to comment on the matter saying it would address all the issues at the news conference.
