Zain Africa has received preliminary approval to transfer its license in Uganda to Bharti Airtel making it the last of its assets to be transferred.
The Bloomberg news website quotes the Kuwaiti based newspaper Al-Qabass without attributing any sources.
Indian Telecom operator Bharti Airtel took over the operations of Zain in Africa at the cost of 10.7 billion dollars. This however excludes its operations in Morocco and Sudan.
The move would see Bharti taking over Zain’s 42 million customers in Africa across 15 countries including Ghana.
The Indian telecom giant sees the move as part of its strategy to expand its reach to Africa.
