The Advertisers Association of Ghana has gone to court to secure an order to terminate an agreement between the AMA and a Nigerian IT firm, which has been contracted to manage outdoor advertising in Accra.
The AAG is also seeking to restrain the firm Via Affinity, from meddling in the regulatory activities of the AMA as far as outdoor advertising is concerned.
The AAG says it opted to have the case settled in court after it realized the Greater Accra Regional Minister’s intervention for the matter to be resolved amicably failed to yield any positive results.
The Executive Secretary to the AAG in an interview with Joy Business alleged that some miscreants within the AMA were tampering with billboards and attributed the collapse of a billboard on the High Street in Accra to the removal of bolts and screws.
He said the AAG resorted to the law courts as the last resort.
