Deputy Finance Minister Fiifi Kwetey, says the government is counting on the Ghana Revenue Authority to transform revenue mobilization and tax administration in the country.
According to the minister the country will not have to depend so much on donors for its development if the Authority executes its functions diligently.
Fiifi Kwetey was speaking at the formal unveiling of GRA’s logo.
He said the transformation of the revenue sector will ensure the optimization of revenue and reduction in the cost of doing business.
The GRA is a consolidation of the operations of three revenue agencies, the Value-Added Tax, Internal Revenue Services and Customs, Excise and Preventive Seervices.
It is expected to centralize revenue collection and cut down on bureaucracy in tax administration.
The logo has two golden eagles each holding onto a scale with cowries on a blue background with the motto “Integrity, Service and Fairness”.
