In a novel move, the flagbearer aspirants of the Convention Peoples Party will in a contest of ideas to show who is best suited to lead the party.
This weekend the CPP goes to congress to choose their candidate to lead them into the 2016 elections.
Former party chairperson, Samia Nkrumah faces off with former General Secretary, Ivor Greenstreet, former flagbearer aspirant and lawyer, Bright Akwetey and newcomer, Joseph Agyepong in a debate to be aired live on TV Africa.
Most political parties just elect a flagbearer, campaign and take part in the national debate but the CPP has decided to take the race for the highest office of the party a step further.
The party has decided to organise an internal debate for the four aspirants on Tuesday.
General Secretary of the CPP Nii Armah Akomfrah told Joy News the innovations shows the CPP has the style and ideas for better leadership in government.
He said with this debate, the candidate who will emerge winner of the presidential primary will be a stronger person during the campaign and a stronger leader when elected president.
He said the debate will touch on all issues affecting the country with the candidates expected to provide solutions to some of the teething challenges facing the country.
Nii Armah Akomfrah said the debate will undoubtedly enrich the democratic space.
