The people of Ellembelle District in the Western Region now have a mobile clinic van to facilitate health delivery in the area.
The 1,000 Ghana Cedis facility, would serve as first aid and emergency health service provider, and prevent maternal mortality and morbidity.
Launching the facility at Esiama at the weekend, Director of Ghana Ambulance Services at the Ministry of Health, Dr Ahmed Zachariah, said the initiative formed part of government's commitment to promoting health for national development.
He commended Mr Kofi Armah-Buah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, for ensuring the provision of the mobile clinic.
Dr George Adjah-Sipah Yankey, a former Minister of Health, praised Mr Buah for his contribution to the development of the area, and called on the people to support government towards the progress of the area.
Mr Buah said the provision of the clinic was a fulfillment of his campaign pledge to improve healthcare delivery in Ellembelle.
He asked the people to mobilise resources and initiate self-help projects to complement government's development efforts.
The Deputy Energy Minister asked people in authority who reside in the area to seek the welfare of the people, adding that "We as public servants must respond to the needs of the poor and underprivileged as well as farmers, whose toil and sweat ensures food security for the country"
The District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, Mr Daniel K. Eshun, said the Assembly has allotted funds for the development of health in the area and appealed to the Ministry of Health to support the Assembly to achieve its objective.
