Interior Minister designate Prosper Bani is alarmed at what he says is the poor level of security at the Parliament House.
The minister designate said despite having driven to the House on several occasions in the past not once did any security person ask him what he was there to do.
That is a worrying security situation, Prosper Bani admitted during his vetting for the Interior Minister position, Thursday.
"I share the same worries with you and we need to begin to work together.... I am concerned, very concerned about their security.
I have driven into this house several times. On no occasion has anyone stopped my vehicle, checked my vehicle and asked me where i am going to.
"This morning i drove to this compound on two occasions. No one asked me anything," he said.
The concerns raised by the minister designate come at a time when the MPs are mourning the death of a colleague, JB Danquah who was stabbed to death Tuesday dawn.
The Interior Minister designate said the security of the individual MPs as well as House must at all times be protected.
He vowed to work with the leadership of Parliament to improve the security of MPs if approved as Minister.
"If given the opportunity to serve, one of the first actions i will take is to work with leadership to secure Parliament House.
The security of MPs cannot be forced on them without consultations with their leaders. My concern is the safety of where you work.
