The New Patriotic Party has set February 27, 2016 as the date for its parliamentary primary in the Klottey Korle constituency following a party decision for a re-run.

A statement signed by the acting General Secretary, John Boadu announced the date after results of previous primaries was annulled.

The party has said a re-run is the best way to resolve the controversy surrounding the primaries held on August 2, 2015.

Philip Addison who polled 22 as against 393 votes for Nii Noi Nortey headed for court after he boycotted the election in August last year.

He accused the party executives in the Klottey Korley constituency and the Electoral Commission of rigging the election.

The case was withdrawn for an internal party resolution. The Steering Committee of the party directed a re-run on February 4, 2015 cancelling Nii Noi Nortey's victory.

Nii Noi Nortey expressed disappointment in the party decision and vowed not to partake in any ‘sham’ rerun.

Klottey Korle constituency is now one of the outstanding constituencies where primaries are to be held. The party statement said the dates for these primaries will be announced soon.
