The Ministry of Communications is said to be unhappy with what it says is the desecration of the country’s highways with the advertisements of telecommunication companies.
The ministry has subsequently directed the companies involved to put a stop to the practice.
It has become common to see residential properties along most highways branded with the colors and logos of one or more of the telecommunication companies especially along the highways.
But this, the ministry says is distasteful and quite distractive to drivers, citing some cases where this has led to fatal road accidents.
In a memo copied to the National Communications Authority and National Security and sighted by Joy Business, the Communications Ministry says though businesses are encouraged to be innovative, the branding of residential properties along highways will not be tolerated.
