The Tema Oil Refinery is scaling up production to address perennial shortfalls in the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas on the market.
Among a number of measures is the maintenance of staff beyond normal working hours as well as on weekends.
TOR, apart from its own challenges as the only LPG dispensing outlet in the country, has blamed a current shortage of the commodity on the increasing demand by some commercial drivers.
Public Affairs Manager Aba Lokko told Joy Business that the scaling up of production should help bring the situation under control.
“The consumption has come from 500 to 800 metric tonnes and currently we are doing 1,000 metric tonnes in day and yet we go around and see pockets of queues.
“Proactively the company has decided that we have expended our working hours with respect to the delivery of LPG; we are going to work over the week-ends as well,” she promised.
She said the measure is in response to market needs.
