The Electoral Commission has set March 29, 2016 for the Abuakwa North Constituency bye-election.
The election has become necessary following the death of the Member of Parliament Joseph Danquah Adu.
The MP was murdered in cold blood at his residence on February 9, 2016, by a 19-year-old for motives yet to be established.
The suspect, Daniel Asiedu has since been charged for murder.
Per the country's constitution, the EC must organise a bye-election anytime a seat becomes vacant in Parliament.
A statement signed by Amadu Sulley Deputy Chair of the Electoral Commission said nominations for the bye-election will be taken on March 1 and 2, 2016 at the District Office of the Commission at Tafo in the Eastern Region, from 9:00am to 12:00noon and 2:00pm to 5:00pm both days.
Nomination forms may be obtained from the District Office or the Regional Office of the Commission at Koforidua, the statement said.

PARLIAMENTARY BY-ELECTION – ABUAKWA NORTH CONSTITUENCY
Following the death of the Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa North Constituency, Hon. Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu and in accordance with Article 112(5) of the Constitution, as amended, the Electoral Commission will hold a by-election in the constituency on Tuesday, the 29th Day of March, 2016.
Nominations for the election will be taken on Tuesday the 1st day of March and Wednesday the 2nd day of March, 2016 at the District Office of the Commission at Tafo in the Eastern Region, from 9:00am to 12:00noon and 2:00pm to 5:00pm both days.
Nomination forms may be obtained from the District Office or the Regional Office of the Commission at Koforidua.
Candidates for the election shall provide two recent photographs (bust) with red background, showing the full face and both ears.
The filing fee for the election is One Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢1,000.00).
All interested candidates and political parties are to take note and be guided accordingly.
