Two people, a father and his son, are in the grips of the Bunkpurugu police in the Northern Region for allegedly masterminding the lynching of a woman whom they accused of being a witch.
The woman, Kombian Tagun, was accused of trying to kill the son, Sule Nuhu, 23 who claimed he saw the woman in a dream on Wednesday night chasing him. When he got up, he narrated the dream to his father, Sule Kumog, who linked it to witchcraft.
On Friday morning July 9, Kumog is said to have gone to the woman's house and narrated his son's dream and warned her that if Nuhu died, he would kill her.
When she denied the accusation, the man got furious, went out and mobilised the youth who beat her up till she collapsed, and set her on fire.
When they realized that the woman was dead, they fled to a nearby community.
However, the police arrested Sule Kumog and his son, Nuhu, who are currently in police cells.
The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the incident told the Times that the body of the woman had been deposited at the Nalerigu Baptist Hospital.
