Passengers on board a Metro Mass Transit bus plying the Awoshie - Accra route were almost thrown out of the bus as the driver of the bus with registration number GR 4750 Z stopped around the Daily Graphic offices and ordered the passengers out because they had refused to pay an unapproved fare of sixty pesewas. In spite of the agitations and heated arguments the conductor insisted on collecting his high fare as against 45 pesewas for the Metro Mass buses and 50 pesewas for other commercial vehicles. The confusion came to a close only after some passers-by intervened while the conductor, fearing the implications of his fraudulent act, began to tear the tickets of the passengers who got off the bus. Some passengers raised concerns that the extra money was probably going to end up in the conductor and driver’s pockets while others suspected that the tickets could have been stolen. The Metro Mass Transit Service was introduced by the previous administration with the aim of easing the transportation challenges of commuters.Credit: David Andoh (Global Photo Agency)
