Twenty Six commercial banks will Saturday vie for the coveted Bank of the Year at the 2009 Ghana Banking Awards.
The event put together by Corporate Initiative Ghana (CIG) has become the reference point for assessing the performance of the banks.
But there will be 15 other categories including; Best Growing Bank and Best in Product Innovation.
According to the organizers the winners were chosen from the responses of over 3000 retail and corporate bank clients.
Afotey Odarteifio, the Executive Secretary of CIG explains the modalities of the awards to Joy Business.
“Which of the category banks have done well should get what they are due because we have sorted out the technical aspects we have ensured that subjective elements have been reduced as much as we could do.
“We expect that the banks that have engage their customers properly will win the day,” he said.
Meanwhile, former President of the Bankers Association and Managing Director of First Atlantic Merchant Bank Jude Arthur says the banking industry appreciates the contribution of the event.
“Over the years it has improved in content and structure and I think they are also playing a very useful role,” he praised.
