A 65-year old retired Swedish police officer, Bjorn Carlestedt is alleged to have committed suicide.
Bjorn was found in a bathroom yesterday at his residence in East Legon in Accra where he lived with his Ghanaian wife.
“I see a white man sitting on the floor here in his bathroom; I also see a belt with the hook around his neck with a nail on the door in one of the belt holes,” Adom FM’s reporter, Kofi Adomah told Joy News.
Mr Carlestedt had been married to a Ghanaian for three years but with no child.
His wife, Mrs Mary Carlesedt alleged the deceased had on numerous occasions threatened and attempted to kill her after he got drunk and on one occasion had to report him to the police, she said.
One of the co-tenants however said the deceased until his death was a lively person who played with the kids in the neighbourhood.
The body has since been deposited at the Police hospital mortuary.
