Victims of the recent floods in Ashaiman have hit the streets in protest of what they refer to as unfair distribution of relief items. The demonstrators numbering about 100 are incensed with the District Chief Executive of the area for failing to address their concerns. The angry demonstrators told Adom FM's Kofi Adoma they have not recieved any of the relief items donated by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO). They also claim not to have benefited from the relief items donated by the ex-first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and that of Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin North. They sent a petition to the MCE of the area in which they demanded that the medical care promised them after the floods be made availbale to them. They also accuse officials at the National Disaster Management Organisation of collecting monies from them in exchange for relief items. They warn of dire consequences if their demands are not met. Some 16 people were reported to have died last month after heavy down pour. Dozens of homes were destroyed leaving people displaced. Source; Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
