The body of 17-year-old Janet Tetteh of the Suhum Presec Senior High School at Suhum in the Eastern Region was found in a public latrine as the latrine was being emptied Tuesday.
She had disappeared from her school two weeks ago with the only trace to her being her blood-soaked clothes and mattress which were dumped at a nearby refuse dump.
The Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Moses Ninsin speaking to Citi News Wednesday said they (Police) suspect Janet was murdered. The police are hunting for their prime suspect, Janet’s boyfriend who has disappeared from the town.
“She got missing two weeks ago...her body was found in a septic tank. Her body has been retrieved and sent to the Suhum Government Hospital to be conveyed to the Police Hospital,” he said.
DCOP Moses Ninsin added they are currently investigating the case.
“...we are currently investigating the case and we are getting some leads. We are suspecting the boyfriend. Unfortunately the boyfriend has also escaped, he is not in town. We are looking for him [to see] exactly what happened.”
In another development, residents are calling for the demolishing of the latrine which they say is becoming a dumping site for such acts (serial killings). Janet’s body, according to residents is the second body to be found in the latrine and they are prompting the government to demolish the dilapidated latrine.
