Nana Akufo-Addo has finally gone through the necessary voting process and has cast his vote at the party's headquarters at about 2:30pm.Early on, Nana Addo faced some few challenges when he went to the party's headquarters in the morning to vote and had to leave.The New Patriotic Party Communications Director, Kwaku Kwarteng had earlier explained to Joy FM that the wording of who qualifies to vote as spelt out by the party’s constitution was responsible for the inability of Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo to vote in the ongoing exercise to elect a flag-bearer.He said while the constitution provides that a flag-bearer and his running mate are eligible to vote, it was not clear if it is talking about 'a past' flag-bearer.Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, a former flag-bearer and one of five candidates standing to be elected today, as well as his running mate in 2008, Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia could not vote at the party’s headquarters today when they turned up to cast their votes.Joy FM’s parliamentary correspondent Sammy Darko, on the trail of Nana Addo’s final campaign minutes and who witnessed the incident, said Nana Addo decided to return home to avoid any legal entanglements.This was on the backs of some party gurus who thought a way could be provided for him to vote. Another contestant, Mr. Alan Kyerematen could also not vote but it is unclear why, while elsewhere in Kumasi Mr. Isaac Osei, another candidate, has long voted as an MP. All the party’s parliamentarians are eligible to vote, however Ablekuma North MP, Justice Appiah, who also turned up at the headquarters could not vote because his name was not in the register.
