A 21-year-old suspected armed robber, who is said to have robbed and butchered travelers who use the Kaneshie lorry station, has been arrested by the Kaneshie Police.
So far, three people have identified Amankwah Osei aka born to die, as the one who had collected huge sums of money from them and hacked them.
Upon a tip-off, he was arrested last Saturday at his hideout after robbing and inflicting multiple cutlass wounds on his latest victim last Friday, around 2am.
Confirming the story to Daily Guide, the Kaneshie Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Dogbevia K. Wonder, indicated that on August 6, 2010, around 2am, Osei, with his gang, attacked a traveler near a filling station, collected hi9s two mobile phones and an amount of GHc120.
He noted that the gang also inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on the suspect and left him to his fate.
A report was lodged at the Kaneshie Police Station and the victim was given a hospital form for medical treatment, adding that “Suspect, Samuel Amankwah Osei, was however arrested last Saturday by the Police with the assistance of the public.”
DSP Dogbevia said the machete which Osei hid at the Awudome cemetery was also retrieved and was identified by the victim as the cutlass used to inflict the wounds on him.
He also stated, “The suspect also admitted having committed the act and is helping the police in their investigations.
Meanwhile, two others have also identified the suspect as their attacker who robbed and inflicted wounds on them some months ago.
The police boss has however called on the general and people who have been robbed the suspect to report at the Kaneshie Police Station.
He said Samuel Amankwah, who has also refused to reveal his accomplices, would soon be arraigned before court.
