The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to return the heat on former President J.A. Kufuor should he revisit his uncharitable comments made against the Mills-led administration.
The former president on Saturday, during his unofficial declaration of Nana Akufo-Addo as the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accused the government of presiding over corruption. “Corruption is becoming incarnate. We see corruption everywhere.”
He also lambasted the government of putting the rule of law on the back burner: “Since we stepped down the economy has stalled, the rule of law has been put in bracket somehow, and the atmosphere of freedom is now under threat.”
Even though the NDC planned to hold a press conference to respond to the former president’s criticisms, it was later called off.
The party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, explained to Joy News on Monday that he had personally granted numerous interviews to various media houses to deal with the issue, thus making the scheduled press conference unnecessary. This would have been a repetition of what he had already made public through the same media.
He however hinted what the party is harbouring against Ex-President Kufuor.
“We think that it [reactions through the media] is sufficient for the time being. We are waiting for [former] President Kufuor to come back and then we [will] deliver our next set of arsenals,” he noted.
