Police officers in the country have been asked to justify their recent pay increases with hard work.
Salaries of most police officers have risen by over 100 percent per the new Single Spine Salary Structure administration.
And according to Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Patrick Timbillah, officers should show appreciation by attaching more commitment to all duties to requite the government and people.
He was addressing newly recruited Community Police Assistants in Kumasi.
DCOP Timbillah charged the new recruits to work hard and stand out as professionals.
About 205 assistants underwent two months intensive training in community policing, human rights and the criminal code among other topics at the Pwalugu Police Training School.
He welcomed the inclusion of the assistants into mainstream policing and said it will help improve police-citizen ratio which now stands at one to 1,000.
Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Samuel Sarpong charged the recruits to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
He said anyone caught in such a conduct would be summarily dismissed.
The recruits were sworn-in by the Regional Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Program, Omar Ibrahim.
