The main opposition New Patriotic Party is embarking on a series of thanksgiving worship services with both Muslim and Christian groups.
In a press statement issued in Accra and signed by party chairman Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, the NPP thanked "Ghana's Muslim Community and the Chief Imam for admitting us to their mosques to say prayers to Allah and to thank Him for seeing the Party through a historic and successful congress; and also for uniting us behind our flagbearer."
"The NPP holds dear our relationship with the Muslim Community and will continue to look to the Chief Imam and our brothers and sisters of the Muslim faith for their prayers and spiritual guidance.
"Tomorrow, Saturday, the 14th of August 2010 at 12.00 noon, the Party and its flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will again worship at the Ridge Church, Accra to give thanks to the Almighty God for bringing us this far and for making us ready to govern this country. We will continue to seek the His face as we work to be in government to deliver improvements to the lives of our people.
"The New Patriotic Party reminds its members of all faiths across the country of the need to go to their churches, mosques and places of worship to thank our Creator for the progress the party has made since January 2009, and to ask for wisdom and strength as we work towards the 2012 general elections, the statement said.
