Samson Afriyie, former Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress in the Atiwa constituency in the Eastern Region has announced his defection to the New Patriotic Party over what he calls his frustration with the District Chief Executive who promised him a US Visa but failed to honour his word.
Speaking to Citi News Monday Samuel Afriyie said the DCE, Mr Emmanuel Atta-Twum asked him to support him in his bid to be nominated as the DCE of Atiwa which he did and in turn, the DCE promised him a US Visa which he failed to honour.
“...because of the disappointment and the promise that Mr Emmanuel Atta-Twum made me...he couldn’t fulfil this promise. He has failed me because he promised to give me a US Visa if I support him from my heart (and after he wins), he will give me a US Visa," he said.
Samson said he is not the only person Mr Emmanuel Atta-Twum has failed and that the DCE also promised the people and surrounding villages of Atiwa that he was going to construct their roads and build schools for them. This he has not fulfilled after two years of becoming the DCE.
He is therefore calling on the people of Atiwa not to support Mr Emmanuel Atta-Twum' bid for a second term as DCE.
