President John Mills has given a strongest possible indication that the National Democratic Congress will fight to retain power in the 2012 elections.Speaking on his return from Switzerland where he was on a three day visit, President Mills said: “I am sounding a note of warning, 2012 we will give them a run for their money.”He was commenting on the outcome of the Atiwa by-election in which the NPP retained the seat with some 75 per cent of the total votes cast.“With elections, there will be winners and losers. The most important thing is that at the end of the day you will tell yourself you have done the best under the circumstances.“Clearly Atiwa is an NPP stronghold and therefore we were not expecting that we will dramatically change the place,” he said.On the bilateral discussions with the Swiss, the President was hopeful the country will make giant strides in its economic endeavours. He commended the Swiss government for their forecast and due diligence.“The Swiss have been very reliable development partners. It was quite clear that even before we went there, they had done their homework and knew which areas we would need support.“And therefore during our bilateral discussions it was not difficult for us to arrive at decisions which we thought will inure to our mutual benefit.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
