The Association of Used Auto Parts Dealers (ASUAPAD) has stated that fraudsters in the auto parts industry who collaborate with charlatan mechanics to take advantage of ignorant car owners are denting the credibility of genuine dealers.
In line with this, the association has resolved to expose such people.
Siaw Ampadu, Chairman of ASUAPAD, who disclosed this to the media on Thursday in Accra, said the association would embark on a nationwide public campaign to sensitize Ghanaians, particularly motorists on the activities of these fraudsters.
Currently, he said his outfit was sensitizing members on modern marketing trends in the industry, especially on how to assist clients to buy quality auto parts at the right price.
“We are committed to creating the best shopping experience possible for our clients to get their parts fast, reduce the rate of movement through the market and create a friendly environment for engagement."
ASUAPAD, he said, seeks to create an enabling environment for dealers of used auto parts to serve as a platform for engaging institutions such as the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Refuting allegations that the association was anti-government, he emphasized: “We believe in private-public-partnership and would therefore continue to work in the supreme interest of Ghana by contributing to the policy direction of Government towards creating jobs particularly in the absolute interest of used auto parts dealers.”
According to him, ASUAPAD would encourage its members to defend patrons, notably at Abossey Okai and other parts of the country where industrial villages exist.
