Family of the 16-year-old boy who was subjected to brutal physical abuse by two soldiers is expected to petition the Commission on Human Rights and Administrate Justice CHRAJ Monday.
Lawyer for the family Francis Xavier Sosu, has also indicated that the family is also considering filing a suit against the Ghana Armed Forces.
The sixteen year old boy, Christopher Bam, was severely beaten by the military officers at Tamale in the Northern Region for allegedly stealing a mobile phone.
The officers reportedly chained the victim to a mango tree and subjected him to severe beatings on suspicion that he may have stolen the phone. Christopher denies stealing the phone.
CHRAJ has said it is ready to launch a full scale investigation into the issue once the complaint is filed.
Commending CHRAJ for its interest in the brutality of Christopher, Francis Xavier Sosu, said the soldiers should be brought to book at all cost.
“This young man was just a victim of military brutality which we have condemned in all uncertain terms,” he said.
Meanwhile, reports indicate the three military men who brutalised the teenager are currently languishing in Military Guard Room.
The Chronicle newspaper reports that the Northern Regional Command of the Airbone Force has handed over three of the five soldiers who brutally assaulted the teenager, Christopher Bama, in Tamale, to the Northern Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for a thorough investigation into the matter.
