The main suspect in the shooting to death of police Constable Frank William Blankson in Kumasi on Sunday has been nabbed.
The suspect is reported to have disguised himself as a woman and was carrying a baby at his back.
However, luck eluded him when the police had a tip off and arrested him as he attempted boarding a Tamale-bound bus.
Police say two women who assisted him have also been picked up for questioning.
A group of young men Sunday shot and killed Constable Frank William Blankson of the Kumasi police. This was after he had shot and killed a motorbike rider in what eye-witnesses say was an unprovoked attack at a popular drinking bar at Danyame.
Corporal Godwin Ahianyo, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command told Joy News more arrests have been made, bringing the total to 18.
He said the suspects would be interrogated and subsequently prosecuted.
Corporal Ahianyo said a Rastafarian suspected to be linked to the “heinous crime” has been arrested. Another person with tattoos on his body was arrested from his hideout in a room.
“We have one guy that we suspect he is hiding. We are told he has also dressed like a woman and he is bound for Tamale.”
He asked the public to assist with information that would lead to his arrest and promised a handsome reward for the informants.
