A Sekondi district magistrate’s court on Monday imposed a fine of 240 Ghana cedis on Fushina Seidu, a scrap dealer, for stealing a concrete vibrator machine.
Seidu would serve nine months in prison in hard labour in default.
He is also to return the concrete vibrator machine to the owner, Abdul Abass Mohammed, a contractor.
Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Godwin Bawa, said on September 01 this year, a witness in the case met the accused with a loaded sack on the Essipong road.
He said the convict asked the witness to help him carry the load but the witness became suspicious and questioned him about the contents of the sack.
Sgt Bawa said Seidu told the witness that the sack contained scrap he bought from some two boys.
He said he could not take the scrap home because the day was far spent, but when the witness peeped into the sack, he saw a concrete vibrator machine.
Sgt Bawa said the witness called his master from his roadside shop to see whether the machine belonged to him and the master identified it as belonging to the contractor.
He said the master took the convict to the contractor who identified the machine as belonging to him.
