Ernest Adu Gyamfi, 23, a final-year student of the University of Ghana is in the grips of the police for allegedly forcibly having sex with a student of Accra Polytechnic Friday night.
The lady, name with-held, is said to have gone to the campus to visit the boyfriend when she met Ernest who fraternised with her and took her phone number. He later called her to meet him in his room and forcibly had sex with her.
The lady, narrating the incident to Citi News said, “I came to visit my boyfriend but my boyfriend wasn’t around. When I was standing outside the door, he (Ernest) met and collected my number and told me to say goodbye when am leaving. The phone was on loudspeaker when he called. My friends were all around.
“He called to tell me to come over to say goodbye to him. When I entered the room, he locked the door and switched off the light and told me that he wouldn’t let me go. That was when the incident happened.
“The music was so loud to the extent that even if I scream, no one could hear me. So after doing all that to me, he pushed me out...I had to report the case to the police,” she narrated.
The Legon Police commander, ASP Emmanuel Tei-Tetteh speaking to Citi News said a medical report from the Legon hospital confirmed the rape.
ASP Tei-Tetteh said “we are building a docket and we will send him to court for remand. We will build a duplicate docket that we will send to the Attorney-General for advice...Either today or tomorrow, he will be sent to court. Since it is an offence that he has committed, he has to be dealt with according to the law.”
