The Komenda Sugar factory has produced its first sugar consignment, Monday afternoon.
Central Region correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko reports the sugar was bagged for consumption and presented to the trade Minister Ekwow Spio Garbrah.
It is not clear yet how many were produced.
The brown looking sugar had gone through a number of production process after days of production.

The brown sugar with sulphur had been tested early Monday morning before it was bagged.
Central Region Minister, Kweku Ricketts Hagan at a governance for the people forum brought with him samples of the sugar to show to the people of Central Region how far they had gone with the production.
He said officials of the trade ministry will be heading to the factory to start the packaging process once the production is complete, Kojo Nyarko reported.

The first batch of sugar is expected to be distributed to government agencies prior to commercial production.
Communications Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah who was also at the governance for the people forum said the Komenda factory is a testament that government is on track in its quest to develop the country.
According to him, a ceramic and tiles manufacturing factory is also about to be completed at the Free Zones enclave to provide jobs for the people.

"That is the sound management of the economy. That is the mark of a president who will not sacrifice the plight of the people just with an excuse that there were global economic volatilities.
"That is why the agenda for transformation is built on diversification and value addition, so that we can ensure import substitution.

This sugar sitting right here also epitomizes import substitution. We may have imported this sugar from elsewhere..." he said, adding government will add more sugar factories across the country.
