A 42-year old man has been shot and butchered by a three-man arm robbery gang at Atwima Nkoranza in the Ashanti Region, Wednesday.
Anthony Drobo, a fuel dealer was asleep with his family at about 2 a.m. in their wooden structure when the robbers attacked them.
The robbers first knocked at the door of the family's apartment and ordered the deceased to open the door.
Sensing danger, Mr Drobo asked his wife and son to hide in a corner of their room whilst he opened the door.
Moments after he opened the door, the three robbers entered and first shot him in the thigh before butchering him with a machete they found in the deceased’s room in the presence of the wife and her two children.
The widow raised an alarm after her husband has been butchered and the robbers had bolted with an unspecified amount of money, mobile phones and personal belongings.
Traumatised Hannah Amponsah and her children are yet to come to terms with the events leading to the death of her late husband.
Police arrived at the scene at about 30 minutes after the robbers have bolted.
Meanwhile, the mutilated body of Anthony Drobo has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH’s) morgue.
Residents of Nkoranza who woke up to the news of the murder of Mr Drobo's dead have since been trooping to the scene as police begin investigations.
