Interim results of the on-going population and housing census are expected to be ready by January next year.
The provisional results will only state the number of persons residing in the country and will not have the demographic details.
Government Statistician, Dr. Grace Bediako who disclosed this to Joy Business, said the final results will be ready by January 2012.
She said the “final results then comes with all the different classifications, distributions and composition of the population.”
Dr. Bediako also explained to Joy Business there would still be some work to be done even after the release of the final results.
The Statistical Service is currently undertaking a mopping-up exercise to ensure that everyone is captured. According to the service’s own mid-year figures, Ghana’s population is currently estimated at 23.9 million.
