Former Chief Executive of the Ghana Chamber of Mines has urged the establishment of children’s hospital in all regions in Ghana.
Joyce Aryee made this call at the 90th-anniversary ceremony of the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital on Saturday.
She said it is time for the government to pay more attention to children’s healthcare.
"All we need to do is to take the staff who are already working at the regional hospitals and give them dedicated attention,"
She suggested that the establishment of the hospitals begin in the most vulnerable areas in the country.
Dr Aryee said the importance of the health of children cannot be overemphasised 'therefore whatever physical investment we make by promoting the physical, social and mental wellbeing of the child and the child's mother will pay enormous returns in terms of the health and development of the future generation."
At that same event, the Executive Member of the Leprosy Aid Committee, Father Andrew Campbell also appealed for help to put up a new three storey building for the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital.
He said the proposed building will house a laboratory and a pharmacy to ease pressure on the current facilities at the hospital.
The three-storey building is estimated $600,000.
