Residents of Kronum in Kumasi woke up Sunday to an unusual sight of a crocodile in the compound of a residential building in the area.
News of the presence of the aquatic reptile swept like a wildfire in the vicinity, attracting hundreds of people who have been trooping in and out to catch a glimpse of it as occupants of the house are left in fear.
The storey building sited on the edge of the banks of the Kronum stream has become a tourist attraction overnight.
Some residents are already giving a spiritual interpretation to the appearance of the crocodile in the house near a stream after which the town is named.

Scores of the residents have been visiting the house to see the crocodile of about four feet long.
The animal covered in mud lies close to a concrete wall in the house at the time this reporter visited the house.
The landlord, Nana Seidu Sita, revealed that snakes enter the house whenever it rains heavily.
Speaking to Nhyira FM, he said the occupants, including his wife, are disturbed by the presence of the crocodile, although they have witnessed similar occurrence in the past.
Meanwhile, occupants are unable to reach officials of the Wildlife Department because this happened during the weekend so they are compelled to put up with the animal until Monday.
