The Ashanti Regional Police Commander has been promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police, Monday.
A statement by the Police Administration says, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Nathan Kofi Boakye was promoted by President John Dramani Mahama.
The promotion which starts on Friday, June 1, 2016 will see the outspoken cop addressed as Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye.
Kofi Boakye is respected in the country for his role in clamping down on armed robbers such as his contribution leading to the arrest of the most wanted criminal in the country, Ayi Ayittey popularly called Ataa Ayi in 2005.
He has also made inroads since assuming commandership of the Ashanti Regional Police Command in February, 2014. He was the Western Regional Police Commander for ten months before being transferred to Kumasi.
He is a lawyer by profession who graduated top of his class in Criminal Law and Civil, Family Law.
He was promoted to DCOP in August 2012.
