Samuel Sarpong Frank, 24, a fake University of Ghana student, who allegedly stole six mobile phones on campus has been apprehended by the university authorities and handed over to the Legon Police.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Matthew Teye Tetteh told the Ghana News Agency in Accra that the suspect who claimed he is a Level 300 student reading Political Science and History had been with Legon Hall for the past one year.
He said the modus operandi of Frank is that when students are out for classes he remained in the hall and moved from room to the other, stealing mobile phones and other properties.
Some of the stolen exhibits displayed by the police included three wrist watches, seven mobile phone chips, six mobile phones and an electric cord which he claimed he stole from Akuafo Hall Annex B.
ASP Teye said the suspect would appear before Madina Magistrates Court after investigations are complete.
