The Ellembelle District Assembly has decided to pay its outgoing assembly members an ex-gratia award of 400 Ghana cedis each and has currently paid 300 Ghana cedis out of the amount.
The District Chief Executive, Mr Daniel K. Eshun, who announced this at the dissolution of the 5th General Assembly at Nkroful, urged members to share their experiences with incoming members to speed up development of the district.
He appealed to them to offer constructive criticisms especially in the interest of the development of the area.
Mr Eshun expressed gratitude to members for their sense of commitment and dedication to duty which enabled the Assembly to complete about 90 per cent inherited projects from the previous administration.
He said land disputes in the district were a major setback to development and called on members to strive to resolve such disputes in their areas.
Mr Eshun said the struggle for freedom from poverty, disease, hunger and development in general was a patriotic one which leaves no room for indifference.
