The Sefwi-Wiawso Police Command has arrested two cocoa farmers, Kwasi Attakpame, 45, and Theophilus Tawiah, 25, for allegedly murdering one, Kwaku Kye, a-45-year old cocoa farmer, at Sefwi Fuakyekrom in the Western Region.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Sekondi, the Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Olivia Adiku, said on Friday October 29, this year, the two suspects reported to the Sefwi-Wiawso Police that they saw the deceased and Anastasia Attakpame, the wife of Kwasi Attakpame at around 23:30 hours at the deceased hamlet within a cocoa farm, at Fuakyekrom, in the Sefwi-Wiawso District.
She said Attakpame told the police that when the deceased saw them approaching the hamlet, Kye and Anastasia took to their heels and he shot at the deceased, who managed to escape unhurt.
Chief Inspector Adiku said the Police and some unit committee members mounted a search and found Kye’s decomposing body under some rubbish at Fuakyekrom, riddled with gun shots on the face and chest.
She said the body of the deceased was deposited at the Sefwi-Wiawso Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Chief Inspector Adiku said the suspects have been placed in custody to assist in Police investigation.
