Two men are in the custody of police in Cantonment for allegedly attempting to open ballot boxes at the Labone Senior High School.
Joy News’ Beatrice Adu reports the men, whose identities are yet to be disclosed, approached Electoral Commission (EC) officials with the hope of discussing something with them.
Upon getting close to the officials who were near the ballot boxes at the Dadekotopon Constituency, they tried to open them.
The act agitated some residents who have massed up to monitor the counting and collation process.
An alarm was raised and police officials present rushed to arrest the men.
According to the Joy News reporter the EC officials and police have appealed to residents to be calm as the men go through interrogation at the police station.
Meanwhile, counting has been halted at the Berekum East Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region because representatives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could not locate their Form Eight popularly known as Pink Sheets.
Joy News’ Kwesi Boadu said the EC officials have directed the NPP agents to produce the sheets before counting would continue.
