Managing Editor of the Al Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Bature has reiterated his believe that former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings would bow out of the flagbearership race of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The national delegates' congress of the NDC is 26 days away, although Mrs. Rawlings’ communications team has said that she is going all the way, Alhaji Bature insists there would be only one candidate, President Mills, to be endorsed come July 8-10 in Sunyani.
The outspoken editor and staunch supporter of the NDC, who spoke on Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM Tuesday vowed never to appear on any radio or television show if his prediction fails.
He said the fact that Mrs. Rawlings has picked up forms, gone through vetting successfully and is vigorously campaigning does not mean she will still be in contention for the flagbearer position.
According to Alhaji Bature, the Rawlingses themselves had confessed that they are not interested in the Presidency but only want to set an agenda for the members of the party to appreciate their importance.
He also threatened to disclose confidential information about the Rawlingses should members of the Nana Konadu camp continue what he said was a malicious campaign against President Mills.
He said some people in the former First Lady’s camp are trying to tarnish the hard won image of persons who support President Mills. He also chided people like Ernest Owusu Bempah, Saint Osei and Dela Coffie of the Friends of Nana Konadu Rawlings (FONKAR) for insulting and intimidating some ministers of state with their pronouncements.
